Obituary of Kenneth Wayne McBrine

Age 86 of Falmouth, passed away in Mayflower Meadows, Windsor on Sunday, June 14, 2026.  Born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, he grew up in North East Margaree, Cape Breton and moved to Ontario in early adulthood.

Ken is survived by his wife of 23 years, Beth (Morse); his three sons, Aaron Hanson, Toronto; Nicholas (Sarah Faulkner) Hanson and grandchildren, Soren and Sabina, Toronto and Matthew (Krista Van Gaal) Hanson and grandchildren, Connor and Kataryna, Richmond, ON; as well as Beth’s sons, Joel Fowler, Moncton and Nathan Fowler, Vancouver.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Ruth McBrine; brother, Richard “Dick” and wife, Marion and their son, Rick; Ken’s other brother, John.

Ken had a large extended family, many of whom he had a close relationship with. Special mention goes to Dick and Marion’s children, Debbie (Michael), daughter-in-law, Laurie (late Rick), Wayne (Rose) and Robert, all of Ontario.

When Ken and Beth were married, he was welcomed into the large Morse family which includes, Larry, Bowen Island, BC; Martha Stewart (Tony), Wolfville; Tim (Heather), West Brooklyn; Eric (late Claire) South Berwick and Adam (Sheri) Calgary, AB and their families. He enjoyed being a part of the family and loved supporting the nieces and nephews by attending their sporting activities and endeavours.

Throughout his career in sales, which he loved, he had the opportunity to see most of Canada and enjoyed living and experiencing life in various cities and towns across the country. Ken really enjoyed meeting new people and he would be the first person to lend a hand with any projects that presented themselves. His favourite place was on Cape Breton Island, namely, North East Margaree, where he was proud to show off the Island and to take his “mainland” friends to his best-loved fishing hole.

A special thank you to the wonderful team of caregivers including Dr. Iona Wile and Dr. Cathryn Smith at Mayflower Meadows in Windsor. They always made sure Ken was comfortable and cared for as his dementia progressed and at the same time, the Mayflower Meadows family was very supportive to Beth in helping her navigate this difficult time of life.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 29 in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Jackson Dunn officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Donations in memory of Ken may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
