Obituary of Elaine Hilda States

It is with broken hearts, that we the family announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Elaine Hilda States of New Minas, Kings Co., on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at the age of 69 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax, with family by her side. Born on June 22, 1956 in Windsor, Hants Co., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Rovine (Boudreau) Frank.

Elaine worked at Mary Lee's Stained Glass in Grand Pre and at Jane's Again in Wolfville where she met many friends. Elaine enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Mt. Denson Garden Club. Elaine also had a passion for thrifting, going on a "Guys Frenchy's Run" up through the valley and couldn't pass up a yard sale. Elaine loved spending time with family and friends and going out dancing.

She is survived by her son, Jason (Michelle) States, Hantsport; Ashley (Ardy) Willins, Upper Loch Lomond, NB; grandchildren, Christian, Alexis, Dominik, Aaliyah and Moisha and another grandchild on the way; great-granddaughter Winnie, as well as seven furry "grandchildren" who she loved dearly. She is also survived by siblings, Johanne (John) Robbins, Bathurst, NB; Sharon Hill, Lunenburg; Shirley (Richard) Corkum, Hants Border; Yvonne (David) Sanford, Brooklyn, Hants Co.; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Besides her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Alfie; daughter, Tara Lee (States) Arenburg; niece, Melissa and her beloved pets, Ginger (cat) and MiMi (dog).

Elaine's favourite color was green and she loved flowers. The family is requesting guests to wear something green or with flowers in honour of Elaine if possible.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 18 in the funeral home chapel, Celebrant Helen Lindsay officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Interment for Elaine and Alfie will be held in Mount Denson Community Cemetery. Following the interment, friends are welcome to join the family at the Hantsport Fire Department, to share in continued fellowship.
