Vera Christina (Patterson) Ward, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the age of 66, surrounded by the love of her family in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on December 29, 1959, in Windsor, Vera was a cherished daughter to the late Reuben and Ellen (Hill) Patterson and a dear sister to the late Allan Patterson.

Vera is survived by her devoted husband, James; cherished son, Jason (Abigail Dykens); and her treasured grandson, Brody Ward, who brought immense joy to her life; grandson's mother, Michelle Sampson.

Vera was a woman of unparalleled dedication and warmth. Her life was a testament to love, resilience and generosity. She shared an extraordinary 46-year journey with her best friend and husband, James Ward, crafting a life filled with laughter, adventure and unwavering companionship. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love.

Her professional life was marked by her exceptional dedication, having worked for 22 years at Maritime Moving and Storage before spending the past 12 years at Guardian Transfer and Storage.

A woman of varied interests, Vera was a dedicated bowler for over 30 years, rarely missing a night at the lanes. Her passion extended to the great outdoors, where she eagerly awaited the opening day at Whale Creek Campground each year. Vera enjoyed time spent with her camping friends, sharing wine on the beach with the ladies and crafting delightful shots for everyone to enjoy. She enjoyed bass fishing, a lover of lighthouses and found peace in the pages of Danielle Steele books, as well as joy in the intricate art of diamond dots.

Vera was a beacon of love and selflessness, always placing the needs of others above her own. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love will be missed profoundly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate doctors, nurses and care staff at Hants Community Hospital, Valley Regional Hospital, QEII and the Cancer Clinic.

Vera's legacy is one of love and light, and she will forever be remembered for the joy, laughter and warmth she brought into the world. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, and her memory will be cherished eternally.
