Obituary of Olive Elizabeth Ripley

Age 96, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on March 29, 1930, in Upper Burlington, she was a daughter of the late Edmund and Hazel (Munro) Barkhouse.

Olive was a loving mother and she enjoyed cooking, walking and doing puzzles. Over the years she sold Avon, World Book Encyclopedias and Danielle Jewlery. She worked as a knitter for NS Textiles and for Avon Valley Greenhouse, grading carnations. Olive was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Hants County Branch 009, Windsor.

She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Becky Cochrane (Mark Forsythe) of Wolfville; son, Greg of Falmouth; grandchildren, O.J. Smith (Candy) of P.E.I. and Trenton Fraser Ripley (Cassy) of Falmouth; sisters, Ethel Wilcox, Verna Smith, Dorothy Rafuse and Trudy Haines; brother, Ted Barkhouse; son-in-law, Bob Newcomb and several other extended family members. She is also survived by her special fur-grandbabies, Harley, Willie and Kitty Missy. 

Besides her parents, Olive was predeceased by her husband, Carl; daughter, Judy Newcomb and son-in-law, Brian Cochrane.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A private graveside service will take place in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Falmouth.
