Obituary of Nancy Anne Field

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Age 78, of Bedford, died peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, with her loving family by her side. Nancy was born on May 11, 1947, in Barrie and raised in Hillsdale, Ontario. She was a daughter of the late Newton and Bernice (Drennan) Train.

Nancy spent 51 years building a life and family with her loving husband, William A. Field. Together they raised three daughters, moving sixteen times and calling many places in Ontario and Atlantic Canada home before settling in Bedford.

She was a registered nurse for many years, working mostly in Ontario hospitals. Nursing was truly a calling for her. She often shared stories from her years as a head nurse and OR nurse.

Nancy was committed to the communities she called home and enjoyed volunteering her time to help others. She served with Neighbourhood Watch, as Commissioner of Girl Guides of Canada and in many school roles. In her spare time, she was often found in Pleasant Vale, New Brunswick, at her beloved schoolhouse, which she lovingly restored and preserved. She created it as a “home base” for everyone during years of frequent moves for work.

There was never a project Nancy would not tackle. An accomplished homemaker, crafter, baker, quilter, furniture refinisher, creative painter and designer, she could figure out just about any problem that needed unraveling. She did it all with kindness and love and she was happiest when a need was met.

Nancy had a sharp wit and humour that she shared with the people she loved. Her remarkable memory was hard to match and will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Reuben), Katherine (Peter) and Janet (David); grandchildren, Maddie, Sophie and Eddie; brother, William Train (Kristine); nieces and nephew, Tara, William, Rebecca and Olivia; cousin, Larry Drennan and a few close friends.

Besides her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her husband, William; sister, Carole Greaves and brother-in-law, David Greaves.

The family is forever thankful to the staff at Dykeland Lodge, who took the time to truly get to know Nancy in the way she deserved.
