Neala and I are saddened by Judith's passing. I met Judith when I joined the faculty at the Mount in the early 90s. What impressed me so much is how she treated me with respect. She always made me feel that if I was serious and came prepared to do the task at hand, she would be there to help and support me. She taught me about being a team player, building bridges across faculties, silos and people. I did not need to be Judith’s best friend to feel a beautiful connection with her. Our deepest condolences to Norm, Ian and family.

Dear Norm and family and all Judith's beloved friends,
This is such very sad news. Please accept my condolences and warm thoughts to you all at this difficult time. Judith enthusiastically hosted the Yoga Group for a number of years in your lovely, big ,walk out yoga room.
I always looked forward to that.
I saw Judith quite recently - in the last few months - and thought, she's going to be ok. Pancreatic cancer is such a mean one, I am so sorry.
She will be missed.
All the best,
Charlotte

Judith was the Chairman of the department when began my accidental academic career. I will be forever grateful for her mentorship through our years together at MSVU. She was a wonderful colleague and she will be forever in my memory as one of the brightest parts of my university career. My heart goes out to you, Norm, and your family.

Judith loved the earth and all its creatures with fierce passion. She treasured her time with her horses, her people and her dogs. I will miss our talks about theology, politics and writing. She was blessed to be surrounded by loving, compassionate, caring people in her final days. May your spirit fly free.

To Norm and family. Such a hard last 18 months for you all . We are so sorry she has left but certainly hung on longer than anyone expected. Pretty stubborn we’d say and you were able to make the best of her up and down days. Very much appreciated the weekly status report updates at Nova Voce. We wish you strength and good health in the days and months ahead and most of all keep singing .
With all our sympathy and love
Duncan and Ann

What I remember so vividly about Judith was her animated presence. Judith had vitality to spare. And she had a wholesome, sometimes quirky, sense of humor. She came across as a true force of energy—enhanced with a positive outlook. (I am ever grateful to Judith for hiring me as a fledgling instructor, then later supporting me as a full-time professor.) Engaging with Judith meant that you also made an effort because she most certainly did. Her life passions, which were many, came through with a spiritedness that's hard to match. She was a remarkably dynamic person. Over decades I had the benefit of her kindness. She was a genuine influence for me, even more than I realized back then. Judith was definitely an admired teaching colleague; she was also my mentor at times. Judith brought such a richness to her teaching. It was just understood (a natural attribute of hers) that Judith gave a lot to her students. Although I was never her student, she still offered plenty of worthwhile insights and thoughtful perspectives. I am so thankful that Judith was my friend.

My deepest condolences to Judith’s family and many friends. The first time I met Judith, she made such an impression on me with her infectious smile and positive outlook on everything. I admired her incredible courage in her battle with cancer and she was such an inspiration during what I’m sure was an unimaginably difficult time. Rest easy Judith. You will be missed❤️
