Obituary of Paul Harris Shaw Sr.
Age 72, of Windsor Forks, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on September 25, 1953, in Windsor, he was a son of the late Vernon and Thelma (Phinney) Shaw.
Paul spent his entire life in Windsor Forks, building both a livelihood and a legacy in the community he called home. From his early teens, Paul’s love for trucks and equipment was nurtured by his father, who had him behind the wheel driving to Chester, fuelling a lifelong passion for trucks and heavy equipment.
As the owner of Paul Shaw Sand and Gravel, he was known as a hardworking and highly respected businessman. Through years of dedication and discipline, he established a reputation for reliability, quality and pride in his work.
Paul was a man who valued taking care of what mattered. Whether it was his business equipment; dump trucks, water trucks and pit machinery; or his personal passions, everything he owned was maintained with precision and care. He had a deep appreciation for vehicles, especially his collection of Lincolns and Mustangs, which reflected both his attention to detail and his quiet enjoyment of life’s finer things. He also found enjoyment in life’s simple routines - regular stops at Tim Hortons and drives out to the Western Shore Island View Restaurant, where he could enjoy his favourite scallops.
Even in retirement, Paul never fully stepped away from the work he loved. While he slowed down in some respects, he looked forward each year to the arrival of spring, when he could once again get his water truck shined up and ready, delivering water to those in his community, just as he had done for so many years.
Above all, Paul was a kind man who loved his family deeply. He lived his life with strong morals, values and a deep sense of respect for others; principles that guided both his business and personal life. His steady presence, work ethic and quiet integrity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Paul is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 48 years, Trudy (Redden), who cared for him with unwavering love and dedication throughout their life together; son, Paul Jr. (Kimberly Dykens); sisters, Florence Swinamer, Dorothy (Leroy) Collins and Linda (Wayne) Keddy; brother, John (Heather); as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brothers, Stephen, Gordon and David; special brother-in-law, Weldon Swinamer and sisters-in-law, Ida Shaw and Vivian Shaw.
He will be deeply missed on the roads he travelled, in the work he took pride in and in the community he quietly served.
