Obituary of Heather Elaine Caldwell

Please share a memory of Heather to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of Heather Caldwell, age 74, of Three Mile Plains, on Saturday, March 14, 2026 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by love. If love could have kept her alive, she would have lived forever. Born on August 14, 1951, in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur “Bill” and Vera (Riley) Lantz, from Newport Station.

In her early years Heather worked at the Masonic Home in Windsor. Once she became a mom, she spent her days as a full-time homemaker and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. After her children grew up, she worked for a number of years doing homecare and was always quick to offer help to many friends and neighbors over the years.

The help that Heather gave out over the years was returned to her as she underwent dialysis and an eventual kidney transplant in 2024. This transplant extended her time with us, for which we are forever grateful.

Heather held many titles over her 74 years, wife, mother, friend, sister, but she was by far the most proud of the title “Grammie” to her one and only grandson, Cole. Always happy to see him come through the door, she even considered his closest friends “honorary” grandsons. She was always ready to whip up a batch of cookies if she knew the boys would be around.

Heather is survived by her husband, William “Bill”; son, Shawn; daughter, Kim Richardson; and the apple of her eye, grandson, Cole Richardson; as well as, siblings, Donna Hemphill, Cheryl (Bruce) Stewart, Valerie (Bill) MacDougall, Judy (Jim) Hurshman and Lisa Lantz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen (Leeanna) and Marjorie (Ben) MacLeod; as well as by her large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Heather was predeceased by siblings, Blaine Lantz, Janet MacDonald, Jeff Lantz, Dean Lantz and Cindy Lantz; son-in-law, Craig Richardson; brothers-in-law, Nick MacDonald and Bill Hemphill.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will greet guests on Friday, March 20 from 10-10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, Archdeacon Tom Henderson officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre, followed by interment in Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix.
