Obituary of Cyril Fredrick Woodman

Age 95, of Windsor, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born in Windsor, he was a son of the late Walter Aylward and Cora Naomi (Fletcher) Woodman.

Cyril retired from Irving Oil Company Limited in 1993 as Branch Manager with 39 years of service. He also served his years with the Company as a Driver and Burner Technician. He was an active member of the Windsor Baptist Church having served on the Board of Trustees and Finance for several terms and on various committees.

Cyril was a member of the Windsor Fire Department and served as a member for 44 years. During that time, he served as a Fire Fighter, Captain, Driver and Safety Officer. He received the following awards: Governor General's Fire Service Exemplary Medal for 20 years of service; Province of Nova Scotia Long Service Award for 25 years and Governor General's Fire Service Exemplary Medal for 40 years of service. He was an active member of the Veteran's Association and served as Chairman of the Benevolent and Donations Committee and was the recipient of the Veteran's Association Award for long and dedicated service. He was recognized by the Town of Windsor in 1993 as Volunteer of the Year.

He was Vice President of the Windsor Golf Club and a Director and Past President of the Avon Valley Golf & Country Club. He was a Director of the Junior Development programs at both Clubs for several years and was Chairman and Co-chairman of the Sam Slick Golf Tournament. He was a past member of Windsor Minor Hockey and Figure Skating Association and was a previous Coach of the All Star Pee Wee and Bantam teams. He had also been a member of the Nova Scotia Amateur Referees Association and refereed both minor and junior hockey as well as a member of the Windsor Minor Baseball Association and had worked on the Grounds Committee.

Cyril is survived by his children, Tamara Jane, Dean (Debbie), James and Scott (Kim); grandchildren, Summer Woodman and Thomas Healy; siblings, Keith (Lenore), Doreen and Garnet (Betty); as well as many other extended family members.

Besides his parents, Cyril was predeceased by his wife, Frances (Robinson); siblings, Earl, Percy, Ralph, Elsie, Walter, John and Glenna.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, February 24. A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 25 in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Rob Heffernan officiating. Private interment for family and fire service members will immediately follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Family flowers only, by request.
