Obituary of Elizabeth Louise Wilson

Age 79, of Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with her loving family by her bedside. She was born March 22, 1946 in Windsor to the late Carl and Mona (Swinamer) Smith and was the wife for 47 years of the late Eugene William Wilson, who passed away in 2011.

Liz worked for 25 years at the Nova Scotia Textiles in the office. She loved going camping until she was unable to because of her health. She loved playing Bingo and watching curling on TV and in her younger days, she loved to play darts. Her favourite hobby was knitting and she always made sure that all her family received homemade knitted items from her at Christmas time.  Liz continued to knit until 3 days before her passing.

Liz is survived by her daughter, Lynn Burgess (Steven), St. Croix; son, Todd Wilson (Patricia), Falmouth; grandsons, Brad Wilson, Jon Wilson (Miranda) and Tyler Burgess (Jessica); step granddaughter, Megan Hunter (Scott); great-grandchildren, Carson, Bennett, Paisley and Rosalie “Rosie”; step great-grandchildren, Hunter Barkhouse, Annabel and Kara Hunter; brothers, Garth Smith, Ontario and Stewart Smith (Penny), Sackville; sister, Anne Spearing (Dave), Bramber.

Besides her parents and husband, Liz was predeceased by her grandson, Corey Burgess in 1989.

Special thanks to the nurses and doctors of Unit 200 at Hants Community Hospital for their care and kindness while Liz was there.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a visitation with refreshments will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre, followed by a graveside service in Ste. Croix Cemetery, Celebrant Helen Lindsay officiating. No flowers by request, donations in memory of Liz may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
