Obituary of Robert Paul LeBlanc

Robert “Bob” LeBlanc, of Falmouth, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, with his beloved wife, Lori, at his side. In the later years of his life, Robert struggled with Huntington’s Disease and Lori was right there with him each step of the way. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Clarence and Theresa (Bujold).

Robert or Bob as many of his friends knew him, loved to talk and this ability to chat did him in good stead as a teenager in the 1970’s when he attended a hockey game in Halifax with some pals. They sat a couple of rows behind Lori and her mother and by the end of the game, Robert knew Lori was the one. They were married in 1979 and they both graduated from Saint Mary’s University in Business Administration.

From the very beginning they were a team that complemented each other. Lori had many practical skills that she learned from her father, while Robert tended to be the dreamer. His first job was in sales with Brookfield Dairy where he was told he would be driving a company car. Although he didn’t have a driver’s license at the time, Robert didn’t blink an eye. He had no in doubt that Lori would be able to teach him to drive before his starting date.

The majority of Robert’s working life was in sales in the wholesale food business, first, with Bolands and later as Sales Manager at TRA. He loved his work and rarely made it home early as he would be chatting with the guys who worked in the warehouse or on the phone to a client. His position gave him plenty of opportunity to meet people throughout the province. He helped to develop an incentive program for convenience store owners that led to a yearly trip to the Caribbean. He loved the warm weather and even in the challenging stages of Huntington’s he was able to convince Lori that they needed a trip to Florida.

Robert retired early but he quickly expanded his role of Lori’s right-hand man at their horse stables, first at Country Pines in Scotch Village and later at Rolling Hills near Wolfville. He was happy to muck stalls, groom horses, paint fences and help put in hay for the winter. He loved to sit in the viewing room and chat with parents as their kids took lessons with Lori in the indoor arena.

Robert was Lori’s biggest cheerleader and he would be quick to list the show pedigree of Lori’s current and former horses. He loved “Hot Shot” and was very proud that Lori was able to compete with World Cup riders. He loved going to shows and he loved it even more when “Sam Slick” won classes in Ontario, Quebec and Florida. As recently as 2023 before he moved into Dykeland Lodge, Robert was able to attend a few local horse shows and see “Outta Sight” accumulate enough points for a year end award. He was proud of the Championship Ribbon which hung in his room at Dykeland. Because of his sociable nature, Robert loved his time at the Lodge and was popular with both staff and residents.

Robert was always an optimist, especially when it came to hockey. He was a die-hard Maple Leafs Fan and every season he was sure they would win the Stanley Cup. He also loved the family dogs. In the early days, when they owned a boxer named Reggie, Robert was quite happy to be called “Reggie’s Dad” by kids at the horse shows. Most recently Kiwi found a spot in Robert’s heart and his eyes would light up when she visited him regularly at Dykeland.

Bob was Lori’s staunchest supporter right until the end. A few months ago when Lori told him she had started playing Pickle Ball and that she wasn’t very good at it, he told her: “You will be good at it. You are a good athlete. You will be good.”

Robert leaves behind his wife, Lori; sisters, Mary Ann and Doreen; nephews, David, Michael and Brian; nieces, Lesa, Rhonda Lynn and Shelley.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Roger and sister, Yvette.

Many thanks to the staff at Dykeland Lodge who took care of Robert with compassion and always with a sense of fun.
