Obituary of Wendy Mae Hanes
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wendy Mae Hanes, age 59, of Falmouth, on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on August 21, 1966, in Halifax, Wendy was the youngest daughter of the late Gordon Hedley and Ellen Kathleen (Eldridge) Dill.
Wendy will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Amanda Hanes and Jessica Apesteguy, who she loved very much; her older brother, Bob (Sherry) Dill; older sister, Mary (Robert) Knee; several nieces and nephews.
Wendy had a gentle and creative spirit. She found great joy in puzzles, plastic canvas crafts and all forms of creativity, but her greatest love was always her family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, humour, faith and the quiet warmth she brought to those around her and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Wendy truly cherished her time living at Windsor Elms Village, where she actively participated in many activities and formed meaningful friendships. She built strong and lasting relationships with both residents and staff, who became like extended family to her.
