Obituary of Gwenda Merrin

Please share a memory of Gwenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Age 89, of Windsor, formerly of Ontario, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on September 26, 1936, in Edmonton, London, England, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Alice (Hands) Farrell and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Gwen always had a story to tell and her quirky off colour British humour still shone thru right until the end. She had a huge heart full of love for her pups and loved to go on road trips. Her children and grandchildren will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her children, Rob and Vickie; grandchildren, Amanda (Bob), Ashley (Arne), Julia, Dennis (Sarah), Mark (Amanda), David and Jonny (Sara); as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life, Dennis “Danny”; son, Mark; son-in-law, Kevin and siblings, Freddie “Fred”, Betty and Veronica.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A private Celebration of Life will be held in the spring, in her favourite place, Wasaga, where she loved walking her dogs for years. Donations in memory of Gwen may be made to your local Salvation Army, a charity that meant a lot to her.
