Obituary of Tamma Viola States
It is with profound shock and unbearable sadness that the family of Tamma Viola States announces her unexpected passing on Monday, December 29, 2025 at the age of 65, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Her sudden departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Born on August 24, 1960, in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Joan Rosanna States.
Tamma was a vibrant soul known for her outspokenness. She had a love for country music, singing, playing bingo and enjoyed family gatherings.
She is survived by daughter, Chantel (Damian) Brown; granddaughters, Akeelah and Jahmira Brown, Three Mile Plains; sisters, Robin States, Windsor; Velvet States, Lower Sackville; Jolaine States, Halifax; brothers, Andre (Marcel) States, Three Mile Plains; Kim (Sharon) States, Windsor; Brian (Lezlie) States, Halifax; Grant States, Dartmouth; and good friend, Betty Sampson.
Besides her mother, Tamma was predeceased by grandmother, Viola States; brother, Christopher States and sister, Shelly Rebecca States.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Dykeland Lodge. A very special thank you goes to Barbara Eastman.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317). A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Sunday, January 11 in Windsor Plains United Baptist Church, 4841 Hwy 1, Three Mile Plains, Rev. Jennifer Riley officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. A repast will be held in the church hall following the interment.
