Obituary of Hedley Cleveland Ainslie
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Hedley of Falmouth, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in the Halifax Infirmary Site, QEII, Halifax, at the age of 84. Born November 10, 1941 in North Salem, he was a son of the late Bruce and Leona (Turple) Ainslie.
Hedley worked as a mechanic and later for Corkum’s Forestry. He loved to hunt and fish, go to the camp, plant and taking care of his vegetable garden and play his guitar. He also loved to be a bug and torment. One thing he will be remembered for is he couldn’t be stumped on locations and he could always be relied on as a GPS.
He is survived by his children, Wade (Susie Spence) and Jacky; grandchildren, MacKenzie Ainslie, Gabby and Gavin Rolfe; sisters, Mary Barkhouse, Edith Rick and Sara Downing; many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Besides his parents, Hedley was predeceased by his wife, Wanda (Lake); brothers, Albert, Robert “Bob” and Bernard; sisters, Margaret “Marge” Weatherbee and Alice White.
The family would like to thank the many staff at the QEII, Dr. Mark Kazimirski and Denise Rudolph, for being his crib playing buddy.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). The family will receive family and friends during an open house on Sunday, January 11 from 1-5 p.m., at Wade and Susie’s home, 4897 Hwy. 14, Martock. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Hedley may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
