My Mother, Merle's dear Aunt Tibby, often spoke of Merle and Joan and their family. She told me when Merle was a baby, how she enjoyed spending time with him and his Mother, her sister Mary. I had the pleasure to work with Merle in the insurance office in Hantsport. There were stories and a lot of laughs. Memories I will cherish. Different times Merle said we should write a book.
Merle was a very caring soul, he was one of a kind. He will be greatly missed.

Q: How did you meet Merle?
A: Carey Family: I met Merle through Minor hockey where he coached me in my younger years. I also did a little insurance business with him. No matter when i saw him all these years later, he always knew me and was up for a good chat.

To Randy and Paula. Bidy and I pass on our heartfelt condolences to you and your families. We remember Merle with great fondness. It only seems like yesterday when Merle would stop in on Christmas morning to show off the latest animated character that he had received from Santa. Oh yes, he might enjoy a Christmas beer as well. Bidy and Merle shared many great times together at the insurance office, where he could always make her laugh. My deepest condolences to Merle's family. I was lucky enough to get to know Merle through his grand-daughter, Kelsey, and I was always welcomed into their home, included on adventures, and never treated like a bother (even when I was). Merle was truly a lovely human being.
