Obituary of Wayne William Young

It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Wayne William Young, of Falmouth, which occurred at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Born on June 17, 1956, in Windsor, he was a son of Medford and Erma (Jollymore) Young.

Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his sister, Corlene Taylor and brother, Terry. 

Wayne will be deeply missed by his partner of 23 years, Connie Rafuse; his children, John, of Calgary, AB; Jessica (Lynn Dubois), of Wicklow, NB; Nicole (Colby Hallett), of Lansdowne, NB; Cory (Skylar) of Acme, AB; Jeanne Weisner (Tim Margeson), of Kentville; Tasha Hurlbut (Rob), of Hantsport; his grandchildren, Nicole, Ethan, Makayla, Tayah, Kaylee, Maleia, Bria, Jaylynn, Aidan, Adalynn, Gracelyn, Lyla, Declan, Delanee and Violet; his great-grandchildren, Analeah and Weston; his siblings, Pauline Conley (Donald), Aubrey (Roxanne), Mitchell (Kaye), Dale (Elizabeth), Faron (Jackie), Roseanne Leger (Bobby), Charlotte Hazel and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Wayne was employed as a welder at the Halifax shipyards for several years, after which he worked at Maclean’s Trailers, specializing in the manufacture of horse trailers. He took considerable pride in his gardening endeavors, was a highly skilled guitar player and a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He displayed a fondness for horror movies, was a captivating storyteller and possessed a great sense of comedy. Above all, he was a devoted family man who was loved by all. 

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at the QEII Hospital, as well as to Peter and Kim Moore. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a visitation will be held 2-4 p.m., Monday, November 17. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 18 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Town Road, Falmouth.
