Obituary of Nolan Gerald Delaney Allen

Please share a memory of Nolan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, a sweet and gentle soul left this earth. Nolan Gerald Delaney Allen passed away, at home, surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with recurrent and metastatic Anaplastic Ependymoma at the young age of 18. Born on September 14, 2007, Nolan was the cherished son of Gillian Delaney (Craig Gibbs) and Bradley Allen.

Nolan was a kind and loving brother to Cole and Sidney Allen. He held a special place in the hearts of his grandparents, Susan Delaney, Mt. Uniacke, Donna and Stephen Allen, Falmouth; aunties, Jennifer (Shayne) Grant, Yarmouth, Caitlin Delaney (Kevin Reid), Mt. Uniacke, Angie (Torgeir) Suther, Halden, Norway and Ashley (Josh) Guptell, Falmouth. He will be forever missed by cousins, Malcolm Grant, Mia Crossley, Victoria and Olivia Suther, Tanner, Drake and Aubrey Guptell; stepbrother, Eric Gibbs; stepsister, Sadie Gibbs. His void will be felt by his god parents, Allana Munro and Greg Fox and his lifelong friends, Royce Harvey, Aidan Demmings, Lexie Garry and Parker DeMont; as well as many other extended family members on all sides of his family.

Nolan was predeceased by his beloved Gine, maternal grandfather, Gerald “Bud” Delaney.  It gives us peace to know his Gine was waiting for him on the other side.

Nolan enjoyed and thrived in the sport of fencing, was an avid reader, Pokémon collector, Beyblade spinner and a gamer, but his true passion was in creation. He loved Lego. With maturity, he developed a love for building Gundam and Warhammer Models. He shared this model passion with cousin, Tanner and good friend, Royce. Nolan had an affinity for natural history; it was not long before he exchanged cartoons and story books for the Discovery Channel and National Geographic. He loved creatures of all sorts; he would forgo theme parks for zoos and aquariums. One of Nolan’s last requests after a particularly difficult medical appointment was to have a lizard.  Within 24 hours he had a terrarium set up to house his new friends. He had immense love for his three anoles, Lacerta, Leonarda and Krieger, they gave him so much joy.

Nolan was an excellent student; he had a passion for learning. Even with his significant medical challenges in grades 3, 10, 11 and 12, he managed to graduate this past June from Avon View High School with Honours of Distinction on time with his peers. There were many teachers and students that supported Nolan through his challenges, a heartfelt thank-you to Mr. Bunin, Mr. Connolly, Mr. Starratt, Mr. Hanson, Mrs. Wellwood and special friend, Brayden Low.

Nolan started his medical journey at the IWK in 2015. He had immense respect and appreciation for his Brain Tumour Team, Kelly Boileau RN, Dr’s D. McNeely and S. Walling (Neurosurgeons), Dr’s B. Crooks and C. Erker (Oncologists) and Dr. R. Rutledge (Radiation Oncologist). It was obvious they respected Nolan in return. His medical journey continued at Sick Kid’s in Toronto with an Immunotherapy Trial. He was met with compassion, respect and support with Deb Thomlinson and Dr. J. Krueger. Nolan’s journey ended in the comfort of his home with the support of the Palliative Care Team at Hants Community Hospital and the kind and capable hands of Amber Phillips RN, Palliative Care doctors, VON nurses and CBI Homecare.

Special thank you to all who supported our family so that Nolan could travel to Toronto through the Go Fund Me, online auction, donations of food, money, flights, gift cards and prayers. His nana, Susan and auntie, Jennifer who spent time with Nolan in Toronto, we are grateful. The Dental community that supported the dental office (staff and patients) and kindly shared compassion and skill to keep the dental practice running, we are forever indebted.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation.
