Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with sadness that we, the family, announce that James F. “Jim” McIsaac, of Windsor, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday October 30, 2025, in Mayflower Meadows, Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.  Born on December 30, 1938, in Windsor, he was a son of the late John Philip and Ella (MacPhee) McIsaac and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers, John “Jack”, Robert “Bob”, Vernon “Butch” and H. David.

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Pauline (Cochrane); children, James, Windsor and Linda (Doug Luzny), Falmouth; grandchildren, Michael LeGoffic (Adrienne Baltzer), Falmouth and Ashleigh LeGoffic, Union Corner; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

As a young man he delivered newspapers until he joined the Army Reserves. When he turned 18 he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1957. He served 36.5 years in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Electronic Technician until his retirement as Petty Officer First Class in 1993. During that time, Jim sailed on many ships and travelled to many countries with Scotland being a particular favourite. Jim also spent a number of years teaching at CFB Shearwater.

He was a man who took pride in his vehicles, he would spend hours washing and waxing his cars. His enthusiasm for repairing his car led to his car parts spread out over the kitchen table and carburetors in the oven to dry. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers. Jim was a talented woodworker, making a number of useful items including a china cabinet for Pauline, a boat and trailer and many bird houses. With his family, Jim enjoyed travelling the Maritimes, especially along the Nova Scotia coastline. He walked the causeway for many years, stopping to chat with others along the way. He kept his lawn neat and tidy and loved his flower gardens with his tulips being a particular source of joy.

Jim was an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs fan. However, what he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his grandchildren, taking in Michael’s sports and Ashleigh’s horse-riding competitions. He was their number one fan.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Mayflower Meadows and Unit 500 at Hants Community Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness during his time there.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A private family graveside service will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim may be made to Hope for Wildlife, 5909 Highway 207, Seaforth, NS B0J 2L0.
