Obituary of Kenneth William Crichton
We are heart broken to announce the passing of our father Ken. He fought a hard battle that took him away from his loving family on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor at the age of 78. Ken was born December 23, 1946, in Windsor and raised on Wentworth Road.
Ken was proud to call himself a Windsor resident. Fondly known as “Sonny” to his close family and those he grew up with. He valued a strong work ethic which he instilled in all his children. Small business proved to be a theme throughout Ken’s life, in his younger years he ran an ice cream shop known as the Short Stop from the Fort Edward Mall. Later he was part owner of the Anvil in Wolfville. During the early years of his married life work took him and his young family to Halifax, Truro, Dartmouth and Cape Breton. Eventually moving back to Wentworth Road in 1984. From there he worked with the West Hants Industrial Commission before beginning work as the Executive Director of Hants-Kings Community Business Development Corporation.
Ken was a loving father to Catherine, Steven (Andrea), Patricia, Amanda and Danielle (Keith). He was extremely proud of his 11 grandchildren, Samantha (Kevin), Adrianna (Brandon), Madison, MacKenna, Hailie, William, Chelsea, Johnathan, Brynn, Cole and Chloe and soon-to-be great grandchild, Roman. If you knew Ken, you knew how much he loved his family. He is survived and lovingly remembered everyday by his children and grandchildren as well as, his brother-in-law, Laurie Card and several nieces and nephews.
Aside from his parents, Kenneth and Jean (Davis) Crichton, he was predeceased by his beloved sister, Donna Card.
Ken was a man of faith and was a devoted and loyal member of the Windsor United Church. He served as chair of the Official Board until March 2025 and was a long-standing member of Session. In addition, he proudly served the Church through many various programs and committees. Many of his children’s and grandchildren’s fondest memories of him are rooted in the Church community, a reflection of his unwavering devotion.
The family would like to thank Kim and Dr Somasekaram, as well as the staff of Unit 5A at the Victoria General and Unit 200 at Hants Community Hospital, for their tender care and support.
