Obituary of Grant Lawrence Sanford
Age 86, of Hubley, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 in the Infirmary Site, QEII, Halifax, with family by his side, after a very long struggle with a heart condition. Born April 15, 1939, in Windsor, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Marjorie (Dimock) Sanford of St. Croix.
After graduating high school, he joined the Bank of Nova Scotia for which he worked 40 years. During that time, he lived and worked in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and worked tirelessly for different service clubs in those areas. He loved sports, playing golf, boating and camping.
Grant is survived by his wife of 66 years, Connie (Barnes); sons, Michael (Tina) and Geoffrey (Kathy); daughters, Wendy (David) Fife and Jo-Ann (Mike) Instrum; brothers, Arthur (Marg) and Blake (Martha); his wonderful grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew, Ryan, Marc, Bridget, Emma, Brooke and Claire; and two great-grandchildren, Melanie and Trevor.
We, the family, would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Stroke Floor at the QEII for their care and attention during his stay.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where visitation will be held from 2–4 p.m. only, Wednesday, October 1. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 2 in Ste. Croix United Church, 5477 Hwy. 1, St. Croix, Rev. Kevin Cox officiating, with burial immediately following in Ste. Croix Cemetery. A reception will then take place back in the church basement. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Grant may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia 5657 Spring Garden Rd., Box 245, Halifax, NS B3J 3R4 or a charity of one’s choice.
