Please share a memory of Shirley "Maxine" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Maxine Turner, Age 97, of Windsor, formerly of Hantsport, passed away in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor on Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was born in Windsor on February 10, 1928, the daughter of the late Herbert and Maude (Harvie) Miller. Maxine was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She graduated from Windsor Academy and then in 1950 from Nursing School at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. She worked for many years at Payzant Memorial Hospital and later at Hants Community Hospital in Windsor as a RN casual worker. Maxine married Harry W. Turner in 1951 and lived with him in Hantsport for 43 years, until they moved to Windsor in 2004. She was predeceased by him, her loving husband, in 2010.

Max is survived by daughter, Susan (Russ) Yeaton, Port Williams; sons, Bud (Yvonne), Stratford, ON; Steve (Annette), Hantsport; Michael (Donna), Keewatin, ON and Scott (Cathy), New Minas; grandchildren, Angela (Adam), Michelle (Aaron), Kyle (Bettina), Allison (Mike), Damon (Daniella), Athena (Leo), Ryan (Marin), Alyssa, Nathan (Avery) and Caitlin (Ryan); great grandchildren, Claire, Ceci, Parker, Garrett, Quinn, Asher, Allie Mae, Sullivan and Fraser; sisters-in-law, Ellen Miller and Rae Miller and many loved nieces and nephews. Besides her family, she leaves behind close friends, Wheet Wilcox, Vivian Ettinger and June (Duncanson) Campbell. It should be said that Mum really loved living at Gladys Manning Seniors Apartments. There were many friends over the 21 plus years that she lived there.

Besides her parents and husband, Harry, she was predeceased by her brothers, Charlie (Mary), Bob and Don.

We would like to say a big thank you to the caregivers who helped Mum stay independent in her own home, Marilyn, Susan, Michelle, Julie, Tabitha, Wanda and most especially Carmen, who went above and beyond in the caring, shopping, making treats and really, just always being there when needed. Also, in the last days of her life, Mum had outstanding care from the doctors, nurses and staff at Hants Community Hospital.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 18 in the funeral home chapel, Rev.
