Obituary of Bernadette Marie Durnford

Age 60, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025 in the QEII Hospital, Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Halifax on August 19, 1965, she was a daughter of Mark Durnford (Reta Shay), Berwick and the late Mary Carmel (Harris) Durnford (Halifax).

Besides her father, Mark, Bernadette is survived by son, Nicholas Sheldon Shay and his family; sister, Adele (Kevin) Saulnier and family, all of Halifax; as well as extended family members in Newfoundland and Alberta.

Aside from her mother, Mary, she is predeceased by her son, Cory Theodore Shay.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor, NS (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A private family and friends graveside service will be held in Berwick Cemetery at a later date.
