Obituary of Judy Ellen Carr

It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Judy Ellen Carr, age 78, of Newport Station, on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Born in Windsor on December 21, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Peach and Reta Aker.

Judy worked many years as a cook at the Windsor Vocational School, until its closing. She then returned to school to become a CCA which she enjoyed until her retirement. 

Together, mom and dad were avid bowlers and spent many evenings in the Windsor bowling alley, playing on a mixed league. They also participated in square dancing, looked forward to weekends spent at their camp on Panuke Lake and spending time with their grandchildren. 

Judy is survived by her daughter, Krista (Rodney Young); grandchildren, Kaitlin and Mitchell Young, all of Ottawa; siblings, Bonnie Peach, Lloyd Marr, Janet Marr, Donna Duncanson, Linda Lunn, Laura Read and Loretta Purcell; as well as several nieces and nephews and many sisters and brothers-in-law. 

Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Ken; sisters, May Peach and Karen Peach; brothers, Wilbur Peach and Alan Lunn. 

Mum passed away, just five short months after dad. The loss of her soulmate was more than she could endure. They are now together forever. 

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 9, Rev. Father Tom Henderson officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Interment will take place afterward in Ste. Croix Cemetery, Cemetery Rd., St. Croix. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Judy may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association – Nova Scotia Division, 101-137 Chain Lake Dr., Halifax, NS B3S 1B3.
