Obituary of Mary Theresa Sanford

Age 93, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born in Tingwick, Quebec on April 8, 1932, Mary was the fourth of five children born to the late Michael Foy of Quebec and Ellen “Nellie” (McKenna) Foy of Colorado.

Mary grew up on her family farm in Quebec’s Eastern Townships and besides her parents, was predeceased by her brothers, Billy, Walter and George and her sister, Margaret. 

Prior to starting her family, she enjoyed living in Montreal and working as a Bell Canada supervisor. While raising her family, Mary also volunteered for her children’s schools, community organizations and the Catholic church. When her family moved to Kuwait in 1979, she found tremendous fulfilment as a teacher’s aide at the American School of Kuwait.

Mary was an exceptional mother who loved and devoted herself to raising her children. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ralph “Rodney”; loving children, Ralph, Carol and Brian (Lisa); grandchildren, Michael and Paul and Holly Turner. She is also survived by her nephew, Peter and nieces, Nancy, Theresa, Kathleen, Heather, Wanda, Leanne, Sherri and Andrea.

Mary was a joyful, generous, kind and caring person, who loved her family, a good laugh and her garden. She was always interested in and supportive of others. She will be missed by everyone who loved and cared for her.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a private visitation and funeral service will be held followed by burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
