Obituary of Dale Roland Lowthers

Please share a memory of Dale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dale Roland Lowthers on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, after bravely facing cancer for the past two years. Dale was born on March 28, 1951, in Windsor, the eldest son of the late Roland Willis and Laura Constance “Connie” (Galley) Lowthers.

For those who knew Dale, they would agree he was a kind and gentle man who always had time to chat with anyone, any where, any time. You could always tell he was happy when you saw his playful boyish grin and smile. Thank you, Peggy and David for bringing that out of him one last time.

He was a dedicated husband and father who always made time for his wife and two sons regardless of which shift he was working at the time. Dale worked for Minas Basin Pulp and Power for 36 years until his retirement. He had a great love for fishing, darts, blue grass music and reading. He read so many books from the Windsor Library they allowed him to put his initials in the back jacket of the books he signed out so he would know if he had already read them.

Dale is survived by sons, Jason (Trisha) and Jonathan (Heather); granddaughter, Tori (Connor); sisters, Ruby (Darrell), Valerie (David) and Janice (Tom); brother-in-law, Brad Lunn as well as other extended family members.

Besides his parents, Dale was predeceased by his wife, Maureen and sister; Judy Lunn.

Special mention to Brian “Harv” Harvie, David Porter, Craig Ross, Peter Dearman and Angela Ross, who were Dale’s dear friends, who he considered family. Special thank you to Ruby and Darrell Redden for the time and care they provided to Dale right up until his passing. A very special thanks to all of Dale’s caregivers. His home care support and especially to the entire team who was with him until the end at the palliative unit in Hants Community Hospital. He was always so happy and grateful to the people who cared for him, no words can express the gratitude he had for them. Thank you.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be a public graveside service held in Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix, near the end of fishing season, on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11 am, Josh Noiles officiating. Please bring a chair and umbrella if required.
