Obituary of Roxanne Christine Hunter

Please share a memory of Roxanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, sister, friend, grandmother and great grandmother on Monday, May 26, 2025. Mom passed away peacefully at home in Martock, with her canine companion Gracie by her side at the age of 69. Born in Plympton, Digby County, on March 24, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Bernice (Flynn) Blinn.

Mom had many things she loved to do. Her biggest joy was her gardening. She would be outside as soon as the season would allow digging in her gardens. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, reading, baking, cooking and of course spending time with her grandchildren.

Mom is survived by her children, Greg Hunter (Christena), Truro; daughters, Angie Hunter, Martock and Jordyne Bourdages, Martock; grandsons, Andrew Motolko, Nickolaus and Alexander Hunter; granddaughters, Christine Hunter and Jasmine MacDonald; great granddaughters, Silver MacDonald, Asteria Pyne and Aaliyah Vanden Hoogen; sister, Sherri (Reuben) Blanchard, St. Croix; her best friend of 48 years, Marny (JR) Spinney; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by brothers, Wade (Pat) Blinn and Darroll (Judy) Blinn; sister, Paulette (Blinn) Sanford; husband, Darrel Hunter.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). By request, there will be no visitation. Mom loved getting together with family and friends and enjoying a great potluck meal. A time to reminisce and share stories with family and friends will be held on Friday, June 6 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m., in the Ellershouse Hall, 429 Ellershouse Rd., Ellershouse. In memory of one of Mom’s favourite pastimes of enjoying good food and conversation with wonderful people, we invite you to bring a favourite potluck dish for all to enjoy as we share many memories of times spent with Mom and celebrate the beautiful person she was. Donations in Roxanne’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Box 245, Halifax, NS B3J 3R4.
