Obituary of Steven William Lorencovitch

Please share a memory of Steven to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Age 59, of Hants County passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the Infirmary Site - QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born on October 2, 1965, in Windsor, he was the son of William “Bill” and the late Margaret (Morash) Lorencovitch.

Steve loved fishing and hunting, he had his mother’s love of bingo, spending time at his “happy place,” the camp and most importantly spending time with his family and sharing a “puff” with his friends. Steve was a “people person” who everyone liked and wanted on their side. He was a mountain of a man but also a big teddy bear. One used to be able to find him every year during the Hants County Exhibition happily working in the arena and having a big personality and being a big fella, he was never hard to pick out in the crowd.

Besides his father, Bill, Steve is survived by his sister, Susan Lee (her step-daughters, Amber and Laura Lee); daughter, Laura Lake (her mother, Noala Lake); special aunt, Grace (Rick); special uncle, Frank (June); several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Melissa and her daughters, Stephanie and Katy and her daughter, baby Nova; as well as a great niece, great nephews and many cousins.

Besides his mother, Margaret, Steve was predeceased by aunts, Betty, Patsy, Pauline, Barb, Donna and Shirley; uncles, Jim, Archie, Charlie, Allen and Andrew.

The family would like to extend a gracious thank you to the nurses and doctors at Hants Community Hospital and QEII Hospital. Also, a special thank you to his cousin, Natasha, for being a rock during this difficult time.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). By request, there will be no visitation. A time to reminisce and share stories with family and friends will be held between 1 and 4 p.m., Saturday, May 31 in the Royal Canadian Legion, Hants County Branch No. 009, 35 Empire Lane, Windsor.
