Jim is one of the most favourite people that I’ve ever met. I always loved chatting with him, hearing his stories and learning from him.
Jim is the most cowboy person I’ve known. Forever burnt in my memory, courtesy of Jim, he is recalled every time I dress up my hotdog with “cowboy mustard”. The world has lost a great, great man with Jim’s passing.
Rest easy Jim. You made a positive, lasting impression on many.

Sad to hear of Jim’s passing. He was the first person I met on the front steps of Truman House when we went to NSAC. We stayed a couple rooms apart for two years. I spent a few weekends at their farm over those years and developed a great friendship. Many good times. My girlfriend and now my wife (Anna) attended graduation dance with Francis and Jim. Great memories. We never lost touch and exchanged cards until Francis wasn’t able to. Miss them both Don and Anna.

So sorry to hear this news! I will never forget the trip my dad and I took to Nova Scotia in 2008. We were looking for an ancestral homestead area that was located on Castle Frederick Farms. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. & Mrs. Bremner and Erin and they were so gracious as to share the farm's history, give us a personal tour, and show us the remaining foundation of the Landry ancestral home. My dad really enjoyed having had such an opportunity, as he had painstakingly researched our geneaology back to that very place, and he still had occasional contact with Mr Jim in the following years. My deepest sympathies to family and friends on the loss of such a wonderful man.

I only met Jim a few times but he was one of a kind- so knowledgeable, funny, and committed to everything he did. My mom once asked him about some dubious historical behaviour of desBarres described in one of Will R Bird’s books, and Jim made a cheeky joke about the apple not falling far from the tree, which really made her laugh!
We’ve lost an important part of our community with his passing. Very sorry to his family and close friends for their loss.

So sorry for you loss. Thinking of you all during this difficult time. When mom called, I couldn't believe it. Memories of Jim and Frances came flooding back. I was reminded of times when we would call due to Coyotes and he'd spend the night in the field or call because a fence was down and we had some new friends in the yard. Delta and Henry can to mind too, along with the woodlot. All good memories, hold on to those.

Condolences to the Bremner Family.
I have great memories of working the summer of 1970 as a young teenager for Jim & Frances, plowing fields and hauling hay. They had a beautiful Newfoundland dog named Blue, and my brother Tim & I would throw fence posts for him to fetch. It was also a thrill for either Jim or Frances to give us a ride home to Windsor Forks in their 1968 Mercury Cyclone with the 390 V8. A wonderful couple to work for.

Very sorry to hear about Jim's passing. A solid down to Earth farmer with much wisdom which I respected during the days on the Windsor Agriculture Society board and so forth. I still remember the day when Jim's cattle trailer accidently bumped a post on one of our building's deck at the farm. It was fine just a slight bend and still there to remember him by. Our sincere condolences to the family from the Dill farm.

Dear Erin & Family, David and I enjoyed all our talks with Jim about history, the land and life. He was truly history walking. Jim took us up to the cabin, even though I'm sure he'd been there a thousand times, he was in awe, as we were, of the beautiful Avon Valley. Every once in awhile he'd find those date squares he liked, left on his kitchen counter by the baker or his wife. Safe journey Jim.

To the Bremner Girls and all other family members, I still remember when Francis babysat us and the stories Jim would tell. Especially about the Castle remains.
In later years I remember helping Sherry babysit you girls. I remeber all too well the time there was a rogue bear killing cattle and how Dad (Allan Wilson), Jim, Leo Jessop, Gary Patterson and Uncle Bill Lorencovitch hunted down that bear and we ALL ate good that winter. Jim was a friend and mentor to many of us. He will be missed dearly.

I will always remember Jim from high school driving his OLD ford truck with a crowd of Falmoth boys in the back. He was always full of fun but he had a serious side as well. He was proud of his heritage and was always ready to talk about it. Sherry and I shared the same wedding day with Jim and Francis, and we spent many enjoyable evenings together.
What a man he was. Ruby and the girls will miss him so.
