Obituary of Doris Lillian Sanford

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Doris Lillian Sanford, 94, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. She died peacefully with the locket containing her husband’s ashes clutched in her hand. Born on July 7, 1930 in Hantsport, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Pearl (Faulkner) Patterson.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Family was the most important thing in her life. Even vascular dementia did not prevent her from expressing gratitude and appreciation for everything done for her. Dykeland’s residents and staff appreciated and loved her sense of humour, which was often shown through laughter, surprising comments and jokes. She had been a member of Windsor United Church and the Newport Jolly Seniors.

She is survived by her daughter, Lillian (David) of Hantsport; sons, Robert (Beth) of Mount Denson and Donnie (Lillian) of Waterville. As well she is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandon, Angie (Nick), Amy (John), Matthew (Kim) and Susan (Tyler); eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Pitts and Betty Anstey.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stanley (2018); grandson, Brian; brothers, Donald and Alvin; sisters, Helena LaBelle and Mary Lockhart.

The family wishes to thank the staff on Burden Lane for their excellent patient, compassionate, loving care. A very special thank you goes to Jessica, LPN and Shari, CCA.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Doris may be made to charity of one’s choice. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting: www.demontfamilyfuneralhome.ca.
