Obituary of Kenneth Owen Carr
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Owen Carr, 84, of Newport Station. Ken passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, March 11 2025 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Windsor on May 7, 1940, he was the oldest child of the late John and Evelyn (Hebb) Carr.
Ken loved to fish. In younger years he spent much of his time on Panuke Lake and if the fishing wasn’t good that day, no worries, a poker game with his brothers and nephews would often round out the evening. Much fun was had up at the camp. He was also a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan and winter evenings were spent cheering on his favourite team.
Ken was a welder by trade working in several machine shops before he opened his own business, KC Welding and Fabricating, where no one was turned away and you could often get a Quality Street Chocolate on your way out the door.
Most importantly Ken loved his family and went above and beyond for all of them.
Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy (Peach); daughter, Krista (Rodney Young); grandchildren, Kaitlin and Mitchell Young; siblings, Jack (Ruthie), Shirley Benedict, Carol (Billy) Stevens, Bobby (Linda), Patsy Hamilton, Roddy (Lyndell), Brenda (Blair) Pemberton; sister-in-law, Bernice; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Buck; sisters, Aileen Merrett and Mary; brothers-in-law, Robert Benedict and Gerald Merrett; sister-in-law, Kathy (Lantz).
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Valley Regional Hospital for their care and compassion during Ken’s final days. Special thanks to Ashlee Greenough for her guidance, comfort and support to Ken and his family until the very end.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, March 20 in the funeral home chapel, Rev.
