I and Kathiann have only know Rick and Debbie for a few years and we both believe that two finer humans have not been in our lives , they were a team , a partnership and a love story , with all its up and downs , However the Greatest and overriding believe that they shared is Love !!! I only met Rick on a couple occasions but was impressed with his friendliness and open personality. My wife and I had stayed at the Clockwork Inn for our 8th anniversary and while admiring a '62 or '63 Thunderbird in the parking lot, Rick came up and started chatting. He offered me to have a seat in the car, stating that he had recently purchased it and then began to tell me about his collection after he realized I was a car guy as well. Rick kindly entertained me for the next hour or so showing me his amazing collection! I met his grand kids and he told me about his family and he offered some suggestions of places to visit and dine for me and my wife. It was a memorable experience for me! I sent him and his grand kids some shark teeth and ball caps as a thank you! I met him again later after purchasing my first classic car and joining BATANS. My condolences to the family!

Looking at all the pictures and videos that family members have posted certainly displays the love Rick had for his family. I had the privilege of meeting the Dunham family shortly after arriving in Windsor. Being in office gave me the opportunity to have conversations with Rick on many occasions. He had great plans for Windsor and I was excited about the possibilities. He told me he was going to fix Windsor one building at a time. He sure did accomplish so much in our Town with no intentions of stopping. I had great respect for Rich under his “simple” facade but he was anything but simple. He loved life and on many occasions Dave and I got to sit with Deb and Rick enjoying every minute we were together at the Spitfire. Debbie, Sarah & Rebecca... I cannot express my sadness of your immense loss. Rick was such a people person, warm, funny & welcoming. I remember meeting Rick & Debbie one evening during a steak night special (I believe on a Thursday evening) many years ago. I & a friend really wanted the steak special but we're told they had sold out. Well Rick & Debbie were within ear shot and they quickly came up to us sitting at the bar. Rick asked about our evening as if we were old friends. So I told him we had come for the steak, but were sold out. He quickly went into the kitchen and then returned to tell me there were two steaks left, one for his wife & himself but now they were for me & my friend. This of course was followed up by a big hug from Rick and a nod & smile from Debbie. Seems like such a simple giving gesture, but Rick laughed and said under his breath, "ill pay for that later giving away my wife's steak". We all had a good laugh over that and I was moved by his kindness. That was our first meeting & it left an impression. From then on anytime I saw Rick & Debbie or Rebecca & Sarah it was always a warm hello, how ya doin? And a great chat would begin. I'm truly going to miss this man. Things will not be the same without his infectious smile and laughter. My heart breaks for his family. Debbie, Rebecca & Sarah please accept my sincere condolences.

I have had the pleasure of working for Rick for the past 3 years. He always had a way of seeing the strengths of his employees and had no bones about pointing out what needed to improve. I also rented a space from him through Sarah at the Clifton House for several years. Rick would come and do the mowing, not because he had to, because he enjoyed taking care of his properties and being apart of his business. Rick inspired me, and many others in our community. Debbie, Rebecca and Sarah, My sincere condolences. The world got a little darker this week with Rick's death, though our lives have been enhanced in so many ways as I reflect on my memories with Rick. Rick came into my life through my late brother Wayne, who was exploring the potential to launch a community radio station. With a push from Debbie, okay, maybe a big one, he saw the value of the community connection of the radio station right at the beginning, and he joined in with both feet. Though I am not sure any one of us thought it might make it to the airwaves full time, we were all committed to the idea. Actually, I don't recall anyone that was at that table remembering talking about it not happening? We believed in 105.9 Seaside FM, including Rick. Twenty-eight years of dedication and more to the little community station that touched more people than anyone would ever have imagined before his passing. The dream that was drafted at Wayne’s kitchen table definitely became a reality. Rick was a calm bay in the midst of a storm often during the years that Wayne passed away and his presence and knowledge was always appreciated. Rick was always a smile, teasing, trying to make me laugh, listening ear, always available, reliable, dedicated and a friend. Thank you, Rick, for all the support you gave to Wayne, 105.9 Seaside FM and to me personally. You will be remembered, loved and forever missed.

Dear Debbie, We were so sad to learn of Rick's passing. The first time we met Rick was almost 19 years ago. When at our wedding our guests at the Clockmaker Inn were greeted by a lovely man, eager to show off one of his prized automobiles, it was of course, Rick. I first met Rick back in 2010 at Maritime Pressure Works, and we hit it off immediately. I realized later that this wasn't just about us—that was simply who Rick was. He was open and welcoming to anyone who offered him the same courtesy. He deeply valued honesty and hard work, likely because he embodied those traits himself. Rick was always a pleasure to talk to and never failed to share a laugh; he had a gift for making you feel completely at ease. This is a tremendous loss. I first met Rick and Debbie when we bought a house around corner in 1976.I didn't realize they had twin daughters 3 weeks younger than my daughter.My son and daughter grew up with them and was grateful to have wonderful friends and neighbors. Debby and Family I was shocked and brokenhearted when I heard about Rick. During our last conversation in December, we talked about getting together for lunch in the New Year. It saddens me that he won't be there when we do. It made me think back to the 70's when I first met you and Rick and how our friendship grew. I first met The Commander twelve years ago over a martime feast of more than a dozen lobsters he had brought from Nova Scotia to Vancouver. Meeting my girlfriend’s father for the first time, it was immediately clear there was nothing more important to this man than family, especially his daughters. And I also learned quickly that when he hosted, nobody left hungry. Not long after, I became part of that family and had the privilege of a front row seat to how Rick lived his life. It is hard to describe the many facets of this man. Most people saw one or two sides, but he was truly dynamic in that sense. I observed and learned first hand how he always watched over the family in his own quiet way. From the small things to the matters behind the scenes that were never spoken of, he simply took care of things. I could tell times he was in physical pain but he always hid it and never once complained. Over the years, Rick and I had many private meetings, sworn to secrecy I suppose until now, always in the spirit of protecting others from worry or stress as we planned and discussed. At key milestones in my business career, I would often seek his advice when no one else was around, in his office or at the Inn, the perfect setting. A place where he welcomed people from all over the world, but also where we talked business. He loved the thrill of chasing nickels, as he called it. He loved numbers and profit and loss statements, something we shared, and I sought his guidance often. It never took him long to say, “Looks good, go for it,” or give that familiar look followed by, “I do not know, looks a little suspect here.” And that look alone was usually enough to make me go back and double check everything. Most talk hockey or holidays or football or hobbies with their father in law. I read and analyzed financial statements with mine, and to me, that was wonderful. On my major business milestones, he would be the second to know, only after my wife. Though we did not spend much time at games or sharing drinks, we logged many miles on the road together touring factories and shops, which even in retirement clearly excited him. He loved to work, and he was exceptional at it. He had his own flair and way about him. The song My Way by Frank Sinatra always reminded me of Grampy, so much so that my kids simply call it Grampy’s song when it plays. His opinion was always the straight goods (right or wrong). Yet he had a way of letting the family feel they had won and that it was their decision, though Juniper and I always knew from the wink. Right up to his final days, he was still asking about his businesses and mine. Work energized him. But he was never defined by work alone. He lived fully on his own terms. He went where he wanted, when he wanted, and did it his way, though I suspect my mother in law may say she had some input from time to time. In twelve years, I never once called him Rick. He was always Grampy, Sir, and in my phone saved as Commander in Chief. Partly out of respect, mostly because it just suited him. What I learned most from him was to strive to be a better family man and to take care of everyone entrusted to me. A friend pointed out that Rick often walked behind the group, not because he was slow, but because he was making sure no one was left behind, quietly watching over his people. That was The Commander. Always doing a headcount, always making sure everyone was accounted for. I know some of the things he did for others privately, and I am certain there is much more we will never know. He helped many simply because that is who he was. His favourite drinks were cold chocolate milk, Goslings with Coke, and straight El Dorado 15. So rather than only be sad, let us raise a glass to a life well lived, to a man larger than life, and be reminded to live fully and to our best potential. We miss you and we will miss you. Compared to many who are writing in this book, we barely knew Rick personally. Yet through knowing his incredible daughter Rebecca, my closest friend Amin, and their wonderful children—Emerson, Juniper, and Alistair—we came to understand the legacy Rick leaves behind. That legacy is one of true leadership, kindness, and quiet care for others. I’m reminded of a trip to Europe in 2017 with a group of nearly 20 of us. Rick often walked at the back—not because he was slow, but because he was always looking around, doing a quiet headcount, making sure no one was left behind. Though I had only met him a few times before, he treated me and my family as his own on that trip. He made sure everyone was feeling good, was always ready with a joke, a beer, or a story, and had a way of instantly lightening the room. His generosity was constant and never made into a spectacle. He opened his home to us whenever we visited from the West Coast and always made time to connect. We were truly fortunate to know him. While we are deeply saddened that Rick has left us in body, we are grateful that he will always remain with us in spirit. Rest in peace, Mr. Rick Dunham. My grandmother Mary Henneberry Davis owned a house across the street from the Dunhams on Windsor Street in Halifax. It was there that my Mother Barbara and her siblings were raised. My Mother used to babysit Rick and that was the beginning of a lifelong friendship Rick had with my uncle Terry. We considered Rick, Debbie and their family to be a part of ours and were honoured to know that they considered us to be apart of theirs. I will to the day I meet Rick again be forever grateful for all he did for me and my family. The one thing I valued in Rick, besides his generosity of himself, was of how much he genuinely cared for us which I felt over and over again from him. May the road rise up to meet him, the wind always be at his back, and until we meet again may God hold him in the palm of his hand. No words can express how devastated the death of my Brother Rick means to me. He was and will always be my little brother with such a big heart His determination from the age of 3 when months of dressings never stopped his spirit. As kid we would skip down Williams Street every day after school. His early entrance started at an early age when he would bu a set of Salt and Pepper shakers For 10 cents and sell 50 tickets for a penny each. Mary Davis from across the street must have had quite a collection at the end of that summer. The following year he would go to the warf in Shad bay and get fish for free and then sell them in town for 0 cents each. Hs next adventure was a joint adventure with me where we would get free lobster shells again from the warf in Shad bay and we would make our version of lobster men and sell them to tourists diving on their way to Peggy’s cove. As a teenager he never let what we all called his little foot get in his way. For two years in a row he was the Ping pong campion at the YMCA. HE WILL ALWAYS BE MY BELOVED BROTHER

Still in shock in loosing such a great friend and community minded man. I met Rick when introduced to him by the late Wayne Harrett who was the founder of Seaside FM Community Radio Station in Eastern Passage. Right from the very start Rick made Wayne's dream of a radio station become a reality because of Rick's support. Through the 24 years since Rick has been an active participant and supporter of CFEP Radio. Acting in his typical always friendly, humorous but factual way Rick has always been the voice of reality for us all. I always enjoyed a good talk with him as we stayed at the Clockmaker's Inn a few times and he always made time in his busy schedule to sit down for a good talk or show off his extensive car collection. We also shared a love of trains and of course the technical side of Seaside Radio. Our sincere condolences to Debbie and everyone in Rick's family. We were saddened to hear of his sudden passing. We are from Moncton and have stayed at the Clockmaker's Inn many times of the past years as we have relatives that live inWindsor. Rick, Debbie and their staff always made us feel very welcome at the Inn. Rick would often sit and chat with us while Debbie prepared our always delicious breakfast. Despite his many accomplishments and notarity in the community he seemed like a man of great humility. We will miss seeing him on our future visis to the Inn.

Dear Rick, Thank you for everything you did for me. When I was going through one of the hardest times in my life, you were there—without hesitation. You offered help when I needed it most, you listened when I needed to be heard, and you met me with empathy and understanding. Yes, it’s true—and I’ll always be grateful for that. You were a man with a deep sense of family, community, and pride. You gave more of yourself than most people will ever know, never looking for recognition, just doing what felt right. Your love for your girls was endless, and you surrounded yourself with family and grandchildren who clearly meant the world to you. Dear Debbie, Rob and I are so very sorry to hear of Rick’s passing. Our sympathy goes out to you and your family. Rob was remembering the time when he and Rick went for a sail in Eastern Passage in Rob’s sailboat . Dear Debby and Family, I was shocked and brokenhearted when I heard about Rick. During our last conversation in December, we were making plans on getting together in the New Year for lunch. It saddens me that he won't be there when we do. It made me think back to the 70's when I first met you and Rick and how our friendship grew and I reflect on the fond memories of happy times together. Even though our lives went in different directions over the years, it always stood still when ever we got together for a chat and lunch. I will always remember Rick's laugh and love of people.
