Obituary of Gwendolyn "Gwen" Lucy Milner

Please share a memory of Gwendolyn "Gwen" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Age 80, of Falmouth, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born July 16, 1937 in Three Mile Plains, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Vera (Dauphinee) Parker.

Gwen was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the time she spent with them. Gwen was a remarkable lady; she loved life, she loved her family and we loved her. Her strength and determination to get through everything life had thrown in her path over the years has inspired so many.  She loved spending time in her kitchen, be it just making a quick batch of cupcakes for her granddaughters or a large meal for the entire family. No one could cook like she could. She loved her days spent out shopping with her girls at her favorite stores. A new top always made her feel like a million bucks. The lights of her life were Emily and Katelyn, her dear great granddaughters. Her legacy will live on in us all; her presence will forever be missed.

“She made broken look beautiful, and strong look invincible.  She walked with the universe on her shoulders, and made it look like a pair of wings”

Gwen is survived by her sons, David (Valerie) and Peter (Corey Casey); son-in-law, John Bartlett; step son, Pat (Val) Hudgins; step daughter, Heather (Stephen) Hudgins; brothers, Kenneth (Dorothy Blakely) and Karl (Isabelle); brother-in-law, Earl Lunn; sister-in-law, Louise Parker; grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Parker and Holly (Steve) Nielsen; great granddaughters, Emily Parker and Katelyn Nielsen; as well as her four legged companions, Rosie and Abby. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends, whom will miss her dearly.

Besides her parents, Gwen was predeceased by her husband, Beverley W. “Bev” Milner (2014); daughter and best friend, Gayle Bartlett (2016); sisters, Melda Lunn and Amy Vincent; brothers, Ernest and Harley.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of Unit 200 at HCH, as well as the palliative care team for their exceptional care provided to Gwen over the last several weeks. Also, a sincere thank you to Gwen’s network of family and great friends who have helped to make sure that she got to all of her appointments that she needed to get to over the last year.
