Obituary of Darlene Louise Boone

Please share a memory of Darlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
BOONE (Bigney), Darlene Louise Age 53, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2017 with family and friends at her side. Darlene was born on February 22, 1964 in River John to Geraldine (Doucette) and the late Nathan Bigney. She will always be remembered for her kind-heartedness towards her beloved children, family, friends, and all those who were fortunate to work alongside her. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Brian, (Jennie McLeod) and Matthew and her daughter, Alyson. She leaves behind siblings, Shirley (Keith) Arnold; Ronnie (Bernice) Bigney; Mary Jane (Tom) Tved; Levona Redmond; Gail Innis; Brenda (Walter) Jollimore; Leonard (Shelly) Bigney; Jo-Ann Ohrling (Brent Wood); Sheri (Steven) Muir and Cynthia (Kenny) Langille and her children's father, Keith Boone. Two infant children, Michelle and Nathan, pre-deceased Darlene. She was fortunate in fulfilling her dream of opening her own restaurant and proudly named it "Darlene's Family Restaurant". Great memories were made both at the restaurant and over the next 15 years as she served customers at both Subway and Tim Horton's in Windsor. Those who she served will remember Darlene for her welcoming smile and great sense of humor, as she always found time to keep those around her laughing. Having grown up in a Fisherman's family, Darlene's love of the water and going fishing never ended. Many of her greatest memories were when fishing and camping with those she loved. Right up until her passing she was making plans to return to the campground with her long-time friend, John Zinck, who she shared many adventures with over the past ten years. Special thanks go to John for being such a dedicated friend to Darlene, especially once she required daily care and numerous trips to Halifax. Darlene's closest family members will forever be grateful for his devoted friendship. Thanks to Donna Sherman and Joanne Boone for their care and compassion. Thanks is also extended to the Palliative Care Nurses at Hants Community Hospital. Their warm, caring support of Darlene was truly appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS BON 2TO (902-798-8317), where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, May 29, in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Father Craig Cameron officiating. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. Donations in memory of Darlene may be made to the IWK Foundation, B220 - 5855 Spring Garden Rd, Halifax, NS B3H 4S2.
