BOYD, John Anderson Frederick Age 95, of Chester Road, Hants Co., passed away peacefully February 27, 2017 in Halifax Infirmary, QE II. John was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Florence (Smith) Boyd; stepfather, Ralph Sanford; brothers, Wilfred (Kathleen) Boyd and Bob (Tib) Sanford; sisters, Mae (David) Bizwanger; and former wife, Florence (MacDonald) Boyd. John is survived by his wife, Martina (Wile); daughter, Mariane (Spike) Edlund; sons, John (Susan), Wayne, Kenneth, Barry and Otto (Rebecca); adopted daughter, Roseanne; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John was born in Upper Falmouth, on April 30, 1921. Throughout his life John was a member of the Canadian Army, served with the Merchant Marines, and was the recipient of several medals for honour and bravery. Well known locally as "Trapper John", he was an avid hunter and trapper and loved the woods. John worked as a builder, a carpenter, an electrician and was a jack-of-all-trades. John loved gardening, flowers, dogs, poetry, reading, antiques, journal writing, fishing, beautiful scenery, music, and a great home cooked meal! When asked if he had one piece of advice to give, he replied: "To have someone to listen to you." Then he added, "You are only remembered by the things you do for people." John was one-of-a-kind and greatly loved by his family and there are no words to describe how much he will be missed. And in his words, "As I am now, you shall be, as you are now, so once was I." Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). As requested by John, there will be no funeral service. A private interment will be held at a later date. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting: www.demontfamilyfuneralhome.ca
