VEINOTTE, Venna Gertrude Age 90, of Dartmouth. Mum passed away peacefully, knowing she was loved, on Friday, November 11, 2016 in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on May 27, 1926 in Freeport, Digby Co., she was the daughter of the late Alton and Violet (Campbell) MacNeill. After completing her schooling she worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Freeport and Westport before transferring to Canning. There she met her forever love Edgar. They married in 1953 and settled in Dartmouth where she resided in the same house over 60 yrs. Widowed in 1972, she returned to work in the cash office at The Bay, Mic Mac Mall. Mum loved to travel and had many wonderful trips with Dad and friends. She enjoyed a special trip to Italy with her daughter at the age of 80. She had an amazing affection for dogs and always had a pet by her side. Mum was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Dartmouth and involved in many aspect of its life over the years. Her work with the Vietnamese Refugee Committee was very dear to her and the families remained a special part of her life. Her love of music shone through her dedication to the choir for over 50 years. She had also sung with the Sweet Adelines Barbershop Group. Mum had a quick wit and "sometimes" gave her opinion. She was a rich lady if wealth was measured by her abundance of friends. Special thanks to her caregivers especially Arlyn, Karen and Lisa who allowed her to remain in her home for as long as possible. Also, to the staff of Ivy Meadows, Beaverbank. A heartfelt thanks is sent to the exceptional staff at the Windsor Elms Village. Your loving and respectful care will forever be remembered. You are all God`s Angels. She was a loved Mum, Grammie, Sister, Aunt and friend. Mum was predeceased by her husband, Edgar Arlington Veinotte. She is survived by daughter, Dena (Tom) Miller; grandchildren, Brian (Meaghan), Adam (Sara) and great grandchildren, Dylan and Aiden; brothers, Blair (Elizabeth) and Bill (Donna); nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317). No visitation by family request. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, in First Baptist Church, corner of Ochterloney St. and Victoria Rd., Dartmouth. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will be held in Mahone Bay Park Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Venna's memory may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer Society Of Nova Scotia.
