DIMOCK, Eleanor Grace Age 93 of Windsor, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016. She was a daughter of the late Milford and Beatrice Dimock. She received her early education at Windsor Academy before moving on to Acadia University where she graduated with a B.A. in 1944 and B.Ed in 1945. She taught school at Parrsboro, King's-Edgehill in Windsor; Hamilton, Ontario, and at Tatamagouche. In later years, she worked as a librarian at schools in Truro and Dartmouth, and just prior to retirement, at the Vaughan Memorial Library at Acadia University. Eleanor is survived by nephews, Brian W. Porter of Wolfville and Charles H. Porter of Greenwich. She is also survived by two grandnieces, one great grandniece and one great grandnephew. Eleanor was predeceased by her sister, Norma Elizabeth (Porter). Her retirement years were spent at her home on Wiley Avenue, Windsor with ten further years at the Gladys Manning home. She was a member of the Windsor Baptist Church. She had a considerable interest in travel and visited many countries in Europe and Asia. She was privileged for the opportunity to attend Baptist world conferences in London, Beirut, and Soul South Korea. Her most interesting trip abroad was in 1963 when her tour group entered East Berlin and later went on to Cairo where she rode a camel out of the city to visit the pyramids. In later years she enjoyed an extensive road trip to the Western USA, and in her final years always enjoyed short drives, even though there was no specific destination. She took particular pride in her gardens behind her home on Wiley Avenue and had a special interest in photography. She took further training and learned the skill of painting in her retirement years. Eleanor spent the last few years of her long life at Rose Marie Care Home in Hantsport. The family would like to thank their staff for their devoted care. The family would also like to thank Dr. Nasser Ghassemi and Dr. Iona Wile for their care and support. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS BON 2TO (902-798-8317), where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, Rev. Rob Heffernan officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre. Interment will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory of Eleanor may be made to the Windsor Baptist Church, The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, or to a charity of one's choice.
