BARON, Marjorie Elizabeth Marjorie (Leary) Baron passed away peacefully on September 21, 2016. Marjorie was born in Newport. She graduated from Halifax Business College in the late 1930s and lived and worked in Halifax during the Second World War. It was here she met her late husband, Alfred Baron. They moved back to her hometown of Newport to raise their family. In her later years, Marjorie was an active member of her local Jolly Seniors groups and the Newport United Church Women's group. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary MacDonald; her brothers, Clarence and Ernest Leary; and her parents, Cornelius and Ruth Leary. She will be sadly missed by her son-in-law, Douglas MacDonald, Newport; granddaughters, Suzanne (Brian) Partridge, Newport; Carrie MacDonald, Windsor; Amy MacDonald, Newport; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Brianna Partridge; nephews, Donald (Juanita) Leary; Chris (Tammy) Leary; Jeff Leary; Michael Ozon, PEI. The family would like to thank Molly Chambers for the loving and constant friendship she showed Marjorie over the years, the staff at Dykeland Lodge and Dr. Cathryn Smith. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A public graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 25 in Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King St., Windsor, Rev. Kevin Cox officiating. A reception will follow at the family home, Trinity Lane Farm, 8559 Highway 14, Brooklyn. Family flowers only, by request, however, donations in memory of Marjorie may be made to the Newport Pastoral Charge, PO Box 9, Newport, NS B0N 2A0.
