NELSON (Smith), Irma Josephine Age 90, of Falmouth, NS, formerly of Windsor, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 19, 2016 in Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born April 5, 1926 in Riverside-Albert, NB, married to the late G. Maurice Nelson and the daughter of the late J. Crandall and Hazel M. (Alward) Smith. Irma's family came first, especially her time with her grandchildren at the family cottage. She loved her family and in return is much loved by them, now and always. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. Irma was a lady of great faith including many years in service with the Windsor United Baptist Church, was active with the Junior Auxiliary and Merry Martha's. She enjoyed travelling with family and friends, she attended two Baptist World Alliance conferences. Irma was a great cook, her specialities of Divinity Fudge and Butterscotch Pie were enjoyed by family and friends. Irma enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and Leafs. Irma is survived by her children, George (Marion), Darrell (Beth), Gary (Susan), Donald (Jane), Kathryn, Janice (Bruce) Leck and Dean (Sonia); grandchildren, Steven, Donnie, Susan, Gwen, Daniel, Colleen, Rebecca, Kathryn, Anne, David, Jeffrey, Michael, Jason, Jonathan, Mark, Joseph, Matthew, Jessica, Vanessa, Olivia, Benjamin and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Justin, Gordon, Katrina, Alex, Amelia, Nicholas, Jennie, Jack, Grace, Lauren, Patrick, Ethan, Avery, Aaron, Zachary, Hope, Gavin, Leah, Kyle, Samantha, Keauna, Sophia and Madison; great great-grandchildren, Grace, Gabriella, Danica and Dawson; brother, Carl (Joan) Smith; sister, Louise Prosser; brother-in-law, Carl Nelson; sister-in-law, Margaret (Wilfred) Drury. Irma was predeceased by her husband, G. Maurice Nelson (1986); parents, J. Crandall (1954) and Hazel (Alward) Smith (1951); brothers Gordon "Bud" Smith (2014) and Gerald Smith (in infancy). Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, August 22. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 23 in Windsor United Baptist Church, 411 King St., Windsor, Rev. Rob Heffernan officiating with Rev. Dr. John Bartol and Lic. Erin Jackman (daughter of Irma's first cousin) assisting. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. A reception will be held in the church hall. Donations in memory of Irma may be made to Windsor Elms Village Chaplaincy or Bus Funds, Lower Cape Baptist Church or Windsor United Baptist Church.
