Obituary of Kathleen Ann Ritchie

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kathleen Ann"Kathy" Ritchie (Foster), of Aylesford, at 66, peacefully with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer at Valley Regional Hospital on Friday, March 25, 2016. She was a devoted wife to Michael John Ritchie, a dear mother to daughters, Cynthia Cochrane-Smith and MacKayla Luce (Cochrane), and a step-mother through marriage to Jennifer Keating and Alexander Ritchie. Born in Windsor, she was the daughter of Marguerite (Pelly) and the late Richard Charles Foster. Kathy is survived by brothers, Fred and David (Brenda) Foster; nieces and a nephew; grandchildren, Alicia Smith, Morgan Smith, Katelynn Cochrane, and Courtney Harnish; step grandchildren through marriage, Brianna, Santana and Terry Keating; and two step great-grandchildren through marriage, Dawson and Alayah. Most of the time, Kathy was found caring for the ill as she was a nurse for over 30 years. She was well known for her love of the dogs, darts, dancing, working in her flower gardens, and spending time with her family. She was a legion member of Branch 98, Kingston. A special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Valley Regional Hospital for the wonderful care, kind words and support they gave to us. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317). A Royal Canadian Legion tribute service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 1 at Legion Branch No. 98, 1472 Veterans Lane, Kingston. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 1 at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2 in Windsor United Church, 613 King St., Windsor, Rev. John Moses officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church annex. Following the reception, family and close friends are invited to the interment, held in Oakhill Cemetery, Ellershouse.
